It's been so long since I have written anything about my Brutus boy. Again, it's probably a good thing. After a year, his life is pretty settled. The biggest news in Brutus land is that the poor guy is on a diet. With all of the positive training (treat rewarded) that we did for the last year, he managed to put on a few more pounds than his doctor wants him to have, so he's on a special prescription food for a few months. Thankfully, he likes his new food, and hasn't been too upset.
Honestly, it's winter, and haven't we all maybe put on a few too many pounds?? I will admit that I haven't been walking him as regularly as I used to. I found a dog park where he can go and run and play with other dogs, and he's pretty happy to do that, and it sure is easier for me. Some days it's just been too cold to do anything outside. I really think that once summer hits and he's back to playing outside and swimming in the lake again, he'll slim back down. I am by no means judging him for being a few pounds heavy, but I don't want him to have to deal with the discomfort that the extra weight could cause to his joints. As his owner, I have to make sure I do what I can to keep him healthy. I wish I could have an owner to discipline me!
And as far as Brutus pictures go, he is still on to my camera. He can read my face and know that I'm going to go get my camera, and he runs. I promised him that I will never put antlers (or bunny ears, darn it) on him again, but it didn't matter. So, any further pictures of my handsome boy will have to be taken on the sly. I did manage to run out in the hall and snap a quick picture of him destroying a Nerf football last night. Stupid me. I thought he would actually play with it. Um, NO! He promptly headed down stairs and hid in his crate. :( Have a great week everyone!
